How we started...

Our founder, Karen, started as a School Counselor for 14 years, teaching personal and social development to groups of all ages. Karen combined her passion for yoga and mindfulness and her love of working with children to become a certified children's yoga teacher. She earned her Master’s Degree in K-12 School Counseling from Seattle University in 2010 and has received certifications for children's yoga from Kidding Around Yoga and Yoga Renew.

While teaching yoga and mindfulness started as a fun hobby, it quickly turned more serious when she started to see how much kids loved learning skills to calm their bodies down (from someone other than their parents!) and how much fun they were having in a class that also happened to be so beneficial for their social development and mental health!

Why do kids need yoga?

Yoga isn’t just for adults—it’s amazing for kids too!

1. Boosts Focus & Concentration

Yoga helps kids improve their attention span. The breathing exercises and poses teach them how to focus better in school and everyday activities.

2. Reduces Stress & Anxiety

Even kids feel stressed! Yoga teaches them how to calm their minds, making them feel more relaxed and happier.

3. Improves Strength & Flexibility

Yoga poses stretch and strengthen growing muscles, improving balance, coordination, and overall fitness. It’s a great way to keep kids active without the pressure of competition.

4. Encourages Better Sleep

Yoga helps kids unwind, making it easier for them to fall asleep and stay asleep longer. A well-rested child is a happier and healthier one!

5. Boosts Confidence & Self-Esteem

As kids learn new poses and improve over time, they feel a sense of accomplishment, which builds confidence and self-worth.

6. Teaches Emotional Control

Breathing exercises in yoga help kids manage their emotions, so they’re less likely to have big tantrums or meltdowns.

7. Enhances Social Skills

In group yoga classes, kids learn teamwork, patience, and how to respect others, all while having fun!
